It's totally onyx-black on the outside, comprised of carbon, with a light, white-colored complicated circuitry design viewable just beneath the external surface of the cube, and the inside is crammed full of many, many integrated circuits, and various other enigmatic, well-protected parts.

It will not record what was eaten for lunch the previous day or anything inconsequential. The major function is to be a backup for one's mind in the event of [[Neural Trauma]], or worse, [[Neural Degeneration Syndrome]]. Given the limited storage, it may not record events that happened very early in the person's life if they are rather old.
Second, the [[MoodMatrix]] is a [[ChipWare]] piece made to record and pattern one's psychological state. This would be their demeanor, feelings towards things, general personality, and view on life. It only works as a guideline backup, so there is a chance that if the backup is restored, that it will not hold and the person could develop an entirely new personality.
A Millen Cube can take both of these chips and essentially become a working storage device for a mind. If given enough power, it can be a new brain replacement entirely. Millen Cubes are able to take fuzzy images of its surroundings, much like a bat with sonar, so someone stored inside can theoretically see.
