PAC3 Texture Downscaling Guide
I. Necessary dowloads
A. GIMP: www.gimp.org/downloads/
B. VTF Plugin: https://www.tophattwaffle.com/downloads/gimp-vtf-plugin/ ( )
II. Installation of plugins
A. Ensure GIMP is installed.
B. Extract both the EXE and DLL to your GIMP plug-ins folder. This is typically at C:\Users\<USER>\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\
C. Launch GIMP.
III. Downscaling textures
A. Open up a VTF file from your PAC. ( ) for example.
B. You'll see something like this, or whatever the equivalence is, with whatever texture you're compressing. ( )
C. Go to 'Image' in the top bar, and click 'Scale Image.' ( )
D. Divide the top two fields in half. Make sure they're linked. This halfs the texture resolution. ( )
E. Go to 'File,' and overwrite the VTF file.
IV. Preparing for use
A. Re-zip the folder of the edited textures. Ensure it's a .zip, with compression method set to "store."
B. Reupload to Dropbox, import by setting 'dl=0' to 'dl=1' on the sharing link during import.
